Product Usage:
All AndyMark gearboxes require grease for proper operation and long life. We suggest using our red tacky grease, am-2768. We also encourage that the user powers the gearbox continuously for 30 minutes without grease to allow the gear teeth to wear in. While we do design with short run times in mind, this 'run in' period for smooth gearbox operation, is recommended. Once this is completed, thoroughly grease the gear teeth periodically to ensure smooth operation.

Product Overview:
This 20-inch-long Nano Tube houses two complete gearboxes that drive 3 output shafts. This features the same gearing and shafts as the Nano with 500 Key Shaft.This gearbox accepts two 2.5 inch CIM Motors. Hardware is included for attaching two of these motors. With two CIM motors installed all three shafts are powered by both the motors.
This product is intended to be used as a complete drive module for the side of a 6-wheel-drive robot. The center shaft is slightly lower than the two outer shafts for better turning. A second tube is to be used on the opposite side of the robot in order to make the complete drive chassis, be sure the middle wheel is lower on both sides. This same Nano Tube could be used for a 4-wheel-drive robot by removing the center shaft.

Weight Reductions with Optional Parts:
Aluminum Large Cluster Gear can replace the standard steel 50 Tooth Large Cluster Gear.
Aluminum Large Output Gear can replace the standard steel 50 Tooth Large Output Gear.

Optional Encoder:
An optional Encoder Package can be purchased and added to this Toughbox. If you already have a US Digital Encoder to fit this Toughbox, this Encoder Mount Pad will help you mount the encoder to the Toughbox. Here is a guide for encoder installation and alignment.

Aluminum Hex Output Shaft:
The Toughbox Nano Tube can use an optional Short 1/2" Hex Aluminum Output Shaft with Magnet for Toughbox® Series (am-am-0397a) as a separate purchase but a FR8ZZ-Hex bearing MUST also be ordered SEPARATELY to replace the FR8ZZ bearing supporting each output shaft.

Nice Platform For Class Projects January 17, 2014

I currently use the Nano Tube Chassis as the primary platform for all of the "big" robotic projects in our robotics class.  The pre-assembled platform allows my students to spend more time designing, researching, and building the other mechanisms associated with each assignment.
