This two-wheel tabletop robot was developed in collaboration with Purdue University.
This robot platform is intended for use as a programming test platform for university and high school classrooms. Additionally, it can be used for custom tabletop robotics projects. Skitter can handle several sensor inputs and has robust drive motors with encoder feedback. The frame is a strong sheet metal construction with a hard-anodized finish. This robot can be used on classroom tabletops and floors and is small enough to be transported in a backpack.
This fun project robot is available in three delicious flavors!
- Skitter for NI myRIO: This version was designed with Purdue University for use in their ME375 class. It is intended for classroom use and designed to work with the NI MyRIO (sold separately). This platform version is a great companion in classrooms looking to teach with the NI MyRIO.
- Skitter with ESP32 Featherboard: This is our most customizable option for developers looking to create advanced projects. This version includes the Adafruit CRICKIT FeatherWing and Huzzah32 ESP32 Feather Board. Additional functionality including wireless driving control can be developed and features can be added on utilizing the Feather eco-system "wing" add-ons.
- Skitter with Circuit Playground Express: This version is recommended for anyone looking for a versatile programming test platform. This version includes the Adafruit CRICKIT for Circuit Playground Express and the Circuit Playground Express. With this platform, programming can be done with Microsoft MakeCode block-based, Javascript, Circuit Python, or Arduino IDE to get started.
