This is the official Field Perimeter Kit for the FIRST Tech Challenge. This field may be referenced as am-0481 in your Field Build Guide. These part numbers represent the same field kit. It is reusable from year to year and does not include the game-specific hardware or game pieces. The field is comprised of 12 polycarbonate and powder coated aluminum panels that create a 11 ft. 9 in. x 11 ft. 9 in. square enclosure. Each side wall consists of 3 panels, connected by aluminum panel links. Soft Tiles (sold separately) create the playing surface while adjustable straps placed under this playing surface help keep the walls steady while taking abuse. Hinged corners and hitch pins make for easy setup that requires no tools. Panels are assembled using a mechanical interference fit. An extrusion design includes a built in wire way to neatly run wires around the field as needed. Field weight and assembly time has been significantly reduced from previous versions.

Optional Sizes:
Middle panels are optional, which will allow you to create a 12 ft. x 8 ft. field or an 8 ft. x 8 ft. field if desired.

Assembly Instructions (.pdf) - (*Update 8/16/16 - New Longer Rail links have lowered the number of Hitch Pins needed)

Shipping:

This field will ship in two 8 in. x 14 in. x 52 in. boxes, each 40 Lbs.

Field Flooring / Soft Tiles:

You may want to outfit your field with soft tiles. These are not included with the field perimeter kit, and are available as a Full Field Set of Soft Tiles (am-2499-36) or as individual Soft Tiles (am-2499)

Carrying Bags:

This field perimeter can be packaged into two handy carrying bags (am-2313a), and the softtiles can be stored in their associated bags, which are available as optional purchases (not included with the perimeter field).

Poor Workmanship

The hinged corners panels don't line up when folded - indicating the hinges aren't installed in parallel
We had to request 4 replacement links as the holes were drilled so poorly they did not line up with the holes in the panels. offset in both the x and y axis. That shipment arrived with 1 replacement, resulting in a 2nd back-and-forth communication with customer service to have that mistake addressed as well. I am not impressed with the quality of construction/workmanship given the price.
On the positive site - customer service did address the issue and gave us a discount on another purchase.

Thank you for this feedback. We do check each field perimeter for quality as we assemble and pack. We will persist to check our processes and quality as we create these field perimeters. Sorry that we did not make these checks for your field perimeter.

FTC fields of play

I had no problems with purchasing 2 FTC fields of play other than the field perimeter carry bags were not in stock. But I did get an email when they were back in inventory. So all is good there. But I did see that FTC field of play kits are now available which include some tools and tape at a $75 saving. It would have been good to have those just a bit earlier (like 3 weeks) to take advantage of the deal. I also wish there was a way for AndyMark to provide some sort of discount (like free shipping and/or maybe 5-10% off) for the FTC affiliate partners.

Field Kit

The field is light weight, which is good because our space is limited.
