Product Overview

Going to space tomorrow, you'll need your cargo today!  This is the official Cargo Game Piece used in the 2019 FIRST Robotics Competition DESTINATION: DEEP SPACE Presented by The Boeing Company.

An exact replica of every piece of cargo that NASA launched into space; this cargo is orange.  If it didn't have a logo it really looks like an orange.  It's about 13 inches in diameter, but it's squishy 'cause there is air inside.  It gets a lot larger in space but we think it might hold up due to the durable rubber it's made of.  (Don't attempt at home.)

Bored while building your robot, it's game on for kickball.

Please know that AndyMark is not replacing popped cargo.

    Leaky Balls

These stupid balls won’t hold air for more than an hour. They have pinholes in the surface. These defects appeared immediately, and were not caused by the robot handling them or the kids using them as projectiles all over the shop.

    Ehhhhhhhhhhhhh

We ordered cargo, and it popped with in 2 days of use.

    Disheartening

Usually our team loves AndyMark products but this was quite disappointing. Our team was expecting far more and this product came up short. The hatch panel would’ve likely been just fine if it hadn’t been a whopping $27. It’s much more beneficial to put your own time in rather than the high cost as there is assembly required. (AndyMark response: We are sorry that you are disappointed. Please know that we described the hatch panel we shipped on the product page.)

    Not what you expect

Be ready to spend all of your time doing all the work on these yourself. you receive a sheet of lexan and velcro, you have to cut the velcro yourself and apply it. For $3 more you can buy them from Vex with the velcro pre-cut so all you need to do is stick it on. The extra $3 is far worth the amount of effort you save by buying from Vex. Also as a side not there was no image of the hatch on kickoff day, this was a very shady move as it was updated the following day, far after many units were sold. (AndyMark response: Thank you for your feedback. Sorry we did not meet your expectations. The AndyMark version of the hatch was well-described in the description, even with a link to the official Hatch at VEX.)

    Disappointed in Hatch Panel

I honestly don't know if the description changed in the last couple of days, or if I just didn't read it closely (because who would ever read a "Game Element" listing, we already know the specs), but I'm very disappointed in the Hatch Panel option. The picture wasn't posted when I ordered so I assumed it was the normal part. A plain polycarb piece with a bulk piece of loop tape is not worth $2 less than a "real" piece from Vex. By the time my team ripped open the packaging, it wasn't worth it to try sending it back and ordering something else. So we're left with trying to make the best of these. The Hatch Panel needs to be split out into its own listing where the title can CLEARLY spell out that it's not the official piece. Nobody (or very few people) will read the description for an official game piece.
