We try other batteries, but always go back to these

There are many batteries out there, and we have tried a variety of them. The only one we have found that is consistently reliable in delivering expected capacity, lasting for a season's worth of cycles, and degrading in a predictable manner is these MK's. To minimize battery issues during the season, we try to always buy new batteries each season, move last year's batteries to the "practice" status, and retire the ones that show significant degradation in capacity. We have built a 10-amp load tester, and test for capacity under 10 Amp constant load. This is our "go-to" battery - Team 1425, Wilsonville Robotics ..... Error Code Xero

    Spicy

Works great for robots. Not recommended as door stop, boat anchor, hat, or for being used for dodgeball.

    Standard battery, get a tester

These batteries work great and are pretty durable. I've had one that developed a loose plate so it would be great until a light tap would send the volts to zero. Also we had purchased a battery analyzer and when testing at low draw (1 amp) most of our batteries have pretty good amp hour results BUT when tested at max amp draw (10 amps?) older batteries would fall below target voltage pretty quickly. Invest in a battery analyzer and use it at high amps to weed out batteries that are suitable for competition.

Glad to see this battery is readily available to all FRC teams via AndyMark!

FRC 4607 has used many different batteries over the last number of years. Our extensive use of said batteries coupled with our own testing has led us to believe that MK brand batteries are the best on the market for FRC teams. The price is definitely higher than other competitor's batteries, but we have come to realize that these batteries are worth the extra expense.
