Product Overview

Specifically designed for FTC, (though not limited to FTC), this remarkable system is a quick way to execute a controlled extension. Each stage of the Compact Linear Slide is controlled by a pulley system that can be rigged to power both extension and retraction.

Options:

  • 1 Stage has 12.18 inches of stroke
  • 2 Stage has 24.37 inches of stroke
  • 3 Stage has 36.56 inches of stroke
  • Additional Stages
    • AndyMark officially supports a 3 stage system however teams may elect to add additional stages to increase reach.
    • Note: Teams should consider the increased wraps of string on the pulley assembly when attempting to add more stages.
    • Load limit of 10 lbs

Suggested Rigging:

  • Continuous
    • One string per direction that connects through each stage
    • For more details, see the assembly guide and video

Included Powering/Gearing:

  • NeveRest Orbital 13.7 to 1
    • Speedy, approximately 1 second per stage at full speed.
    • Enough torque to easily lift multiple stages with a manipulator and game pieces, up to 10lb total.

    Not good

The spring that comes with the kit stretches out very easily and does not return to its original shape. Not useful. You need to ship it with a stronger spring. The plastic parts that attach to the slides only use two screws to hold it, one at the top and one at the bottom. This adds unwanted flexibility to it and the plastic parts bows or buckles. If one of those screws losses the slider will fall and will not work. Use thread lock on those tiny screws. The plastic part has brass inserts on it. They are poorly assembled and can come apart. Two of those inserts were loose out of the box. I had to use super glue on them. There where several missing bolts. Once assembled, the slider is too flimsy. I would not recommend using this for projects that need to raise more than 12 inches. Our requirement is 36 inches and it wobbles around like crazy. Using two slides may help, but it adds to the cost, and I don't even want to think about handling two sets of loose cables.

    Threaded inserts

I would recommend these slides but be advised the threaded inserts are easy to over torque and will pull out.

    OK

The good: The slide is buttery-smooth and the instructions are great. The bad: The kit was missing the spring, the disks for the spool are mis-drilled so they don't fit perfectly, and the wire for the motor is not included.

    One very smooth slide

This is a very smooth linear slide. Excellent as an extension lift too. We highly recommend it. Just one thing. We killed the spring tensioner. I wish it came with a few extra for the learning curve since they are not very expensive.
