Product Overview:

Updated 4/2/2013 with the NEW Talon SR!  This is a complete kit that would include everything you need to add a motor to any controls package using PWM.  This is a great addition if ordering the cRIO Ready Kit, Electronics for chassis system without the cRIO, or the Cross Link Controls Kit, Electronics for two drive wheels.  Add two of these and you can have four driving wheels.

Talon Mechanical Features:

  • Small size: 2.73 x 1.90 x 1.15 inches
  • Weight: 0.2 pounds
  • Cooling methods:
    • Passive aluminum heat sink included in all units
    • Mounting holes to allow for optional 40 mm fan
    • New improved efficiency at stall, resulting in an even lower need for a heat sink
  • Conformal coating providing resistance to metal chip shorts
  • Tight, secure PWM connection: There may be some difficulty in inserting the PWM connector, but this tight fit is a FEATURE, because you do not want it to come out easily.
  • UPGRADES to the SR version:
    • Synchronous sign magnitude rectification on SR. (Talon has locked anti-phase)
    • Major change due to sign-magnitude synchronous rectification is the improved efficiency at stall, resulting in a lower need for a heat sink.
    • External crystal has been added to the processor to improve input time accuracy.
    • Smart LED blink rate has been updated so the transition between 100% and 99% throttle is obvious. (blink at 99 no blink at 100)
    • LED now blinks red/orange when a fault is detected.  Faults are: low voltage on gate driver, over temperature and shorted FET.

  • Input PWM signal: 0.9-2 ms @ 333 Hz
  • Input resolution: 10-bit (1024 steps)
  • Output resolution: 10-bit (1024 steps)
  • Output switching frequency: 15 kHz
  • Talon SR: Synchronous sign-magnitude rectification
  • Smart LED, blinks proportional to throttle, now with obvious change from 99% throttle to 100%
  • Simple calibration
  • User selectable brake/coast
  • 4% neutral dead band
  • Linear throttle response

Initial Impressions are good May 16, 2013

Still just testing but very happy so far with the motors, haven't tested the controllers yet. I needed rush shipping, product was delivered the next day to Calgary Alberta Canada, very please with AndyMark Sales Service and Support.
